Cleaning a window is both an art and a science, and you need to use proper tools as well as sound technique to do the job well. If your windows could use a good clean, use the following list of tools and guide to clean all your windows the right way.
Begin by mixing the cleaning solution and water in a clean bucket; be sure to follow the manufacturer's directions for best results. If the solution becomes dirty, then throw out the remaining liquid, then rinse and refill your bucket with new solution and water.
After mixing the cleaning solution, dip the window washer into the bucket and allow it to soak up the solution for a few seconds. Next, lift the window washer from the bucket, giving it a slight shake downward to remove excess solution, then place the washer on the window.
Move the window washer around on the glass, applying firm, but gentle, pressure as you scrub. Be sure to penetrate the corners of the glass to prevent leaving dirty spots that will draw attention to themselves. Don't spend too much time washing, as a couple of passes will be sufficient.
If you notice any stuck-on debris, such as paint, tar or tree sap, remaining on the window after using the washer, use the razor scraper to loosen it from the surface from the glass. Be careful not to nick the sash frame when using the scraper and always keep the angle of the blade low relative to the glass surface.
The last step is to hold the squeegee blade vertically, then place the top end of the blade into the upper left-hand corner where the glass and frame meet. Next, draw the blade across the glass, which will pull the cleaning solution away from the glass where you wiped.
After the initial swipe sideways, wipe the rubber blade with a microfiber cloth to dry it. Finally, make as many vertical, downward sweeps necessary with the squeegee to pull the remaining solution off the window.
